How did you arrive at the Ohio Justice Bus? What’s your background?
Prior to law school, I did not know much about public interest law. But quickly into the first semester, I learned about the access to justice gap and pursued internships that taught me more about this work. High impact, mission driven work is motivating, and legal services is the area of law I want to dedicate my career to. I enjoy teaching others and I like that this role allows me to share knowledge with clients and empower them. Prior to this role, I worked in an academic capacity with Michigan State University Extension and taught community members about planning and zoning.
What excites you about the Bus? What are you looking forward to?
I am most excited about meeting people where they are– both in the communities we work in and where in the legal process the individual is. Being able to help people navigate their legal needs is an honor. I am also looking forward to traveling throughout Ohio, this is my home state and I feel really connected to the people and places throughout the state.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Show up for yourself. I was given this advice by numerous people in my life in several different ways, and I think the message is essential.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I have a very good sense of direction. It does not take me very long to learn a new route, and I almost always know which direction I’m facing.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy cooking. Shopping for and cooking with ingredients from around the world is very fun. I love sharing meals with friends and making food that looks beautiful and is nutritious.
