The Ohio National Guard today released a tribute to veterans, including a video message by Maj. Gen. Deborah A. Ashenhurst, Ohio adjutant general:
“Veterans day is a time to pause with solemn pride in the remembrance of the heroism of those who have served, those currently serving, and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
It’s a day during which we honor the brave men and women of this nation — generations of them — who above all else believed in and fought for a set of ideals. We keep the story of their sacrifice alive through remembrance.
National Guard members continue to heed the call – responding to the cries of the world and our own citizens. They are friends and neighbors in your community: the teacher, lawyer, truck driver, sheriff’s deputy or tax advisor. They are those who don’t stand on the sidelines; they’ve volunteered to train, sacrifice and perform under pressure, whenever and wherever needed.
Our Veterans represent the very best of America. Let us join together in honor of the brave men and women who are serving and have served.
