Thanks to the Foundation’s Neighborhood Stabilization Grant Program, funded through Attorney Unclaimed Funds, Ohio’s legal aids provide legal work across the state to address housing needs.
With the Nov. 1 deadline to report unclaimed funds quickly approaching, Ohio attorneys can transform the requirement to report unclaimed client funds into an opportunity to direct dollars to life-changing housing and legal services for low-income Ohioans. This year, reporting is easier than ever thanks to the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Unclaimed Funds’ new system designed to simplify reporting. Attorneys can create and file reports directly from the Division’s new website instead of logging into the Ohio Business Gateway.
The Foundation recently co-authored an article with Merisa Bowers of the Ohio Bar Liability Insurance Company that details everything attorneys need to know about reporting Attorney Unclaimed Funds. If you need additional help, you can always reference the Foundation’s Attorney Unclaimed Funds guide.
By setting aside time each year to file, attorneys fulfill a legal obligation and contribute to the well-being of communities across Ohio.
“Thank you to the attorneys who report unclaimed funds,” said Angie Lloyd, the Foundation’s executive director. “Just by fulfilling your professional obligation, you’re investing in legal services that create lasting economic impact for Ohio communities.”
