The Ohio Access to Justice Foundation (Foundation) is a nonprofit foundation committed to ensuring that low-income and underserved Ohioans can fully and fairly participate in civil systems that produce just outcomes. To achieve this, the Foundation promotes access to justice, funds civil legal aid, expands legal capacity, fosters innovation, and collaborates with partners to achieve systemic change.

Position Overview:
We seek a mission-driven attorney to lead and support legal and policy initiatives that drive systemic change to improve the opportunities for low-income and underserved Ohioans to fully and fairly participate in civil systems that produce just outcomes. The position will require advocacy in multiple forums, including the Ohio and the federal legislatures, engaging in listening and broad coalition-building, and managing committees and communication. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of policy advocacy and civil legal services, as well as a strong commitment to justice for all.

Major Duties:
•Advocacy to improve access to justice and funding for civil legal services.
•Manage and support new project initiatives through work with organizational partners, including legal aid, the courts, and the private bar.
•Manage committee(s), subcommittees, and working groups as needed to explore systemic changes or generate projects to effectuate change.
•Build and maintain relationships with community partners, legal organizations, and grassroots advocates.
•Ensure legal strategies are informed by and responsive to community needs.
•Contribute to strategic planning and organizational development.
•Undertake other projects as assigned to further the mission of the Foundation.

Qualifications:
•Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
•Admission to a state bar (Ohio law license preferred)
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in policy advocacy with strong understanding of civil legal services and access to justice issues.
•Experience with legislative processes, lobbying, and public policy development.
•Demonstrated commitment to improving access to justice through advocacy.
•Outstanding legislative analysis, legal writing, relationship-building, and persuasive communication abilities.
•Experience engaging and collaborating with diverse community stakeholders.
•Strategic, detail-oriented, and analytical self-starter with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
