The Ohio Access to Justice Foundation’s Rising Star Award honors an attorney in civil legal services whose career reflects exceptional growth. Intended for an attorney with seven years or less of professional experience in nonprofit civil legal services, the Rising Star Award recognizes performance that demonstrates leadership, innovation, and professionalism.
Now in its third year, the Foundation has honored attorney Jesse Moses, the 2025 recipient, and attorney Ashley Ward, the 2026 winner. If you know a remarkable early-career attorney dedicated to making a difference for low-income Ohioans, nominate that attorney for the 2027 Rising Star Award. Nominations are due Sept. 18, 2026.
The Rising Star Award is open to attorneys at all Ohio civil legal service nonprofits. The award will be presented during a winter or spring 2027 board meeting or other event held by the recipient’s organization. In addition to the recognition, the Foundation is pleased to offer this year’s recipient a $500 award.
